The Tippecanoe Valley Livestock Judging Team competed in the area contest Thursday at LaPorte County Fairgrounds and advanced to the state contest on May 19 at Purdue University.The top six teams out of 27 advanced to the state contest and Valley was fifth place and only 10 points out of first place. Contestants had to place seven classes and give three sets of oral reasons to the officials as part of their score. Fifth-place team members were Shayleigh Shriver (10th high individual), Sarah Tucker (14th high individual) and Mallory Bowers and Sydney Petersen. There were 127 individuals in the contest. Eighth-place team members were Chloe Hostetler (eighth high individual) Evan Harsh, Olivia Jones and Macy Petersen. Teams are coached by Michael Jones and Kraig Bowers.
