Doreatha J. Creakbaum Meyers, 88, of Bowling Green, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the I.U. Health Bloomington Hospice House. Doreatha was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Sept. 29, 1929, to George and Delores (Confer) Creakbaum.

Doreatha worked as a medical librarian at Community Hospital in Indianapolis and then retired from Hendricks Hospital in Danville. She was a Third Order Carmelite of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and servant of God. Doreatha was loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Doreatha is survived by her children, Monica (John) Schoultz, Evanston, Ill., Steven (Karen) Meyers, Chicago, Ill., Pamela Betner, Indianapolis, Vincent (Cheryl) Meyers, Bowling Green, Diane Collins, Bloomington, Barbara (Stephen) Meyers-Cooper, Atlanta, Ga., nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sister Diane Lyter and several nieces.

Doreatha was preceded in death by both parents, husband, Charles K. Meyers, siblings, Donald Creakbaum, and Doris Smith.

A Rite of Christian Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at the St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 4607 State Road 46, Bloomington, Indiana 47404. Father Daniel Mahan will officiate. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery, Holy Cross Addition, 435 West Troy Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46225.
