The chapter met March 27 at Richards Restaurant with 12 members and six guests present.
Following lunch, Regent Kathy Gawthrop introduced the three Good Citizens and Christopher Columbus essay contest winners. Grace Miller was the winner from Warsaw, Clayton Hicks was the winner from Wawasee and Kelsey Justice was the winner from Tippecanoe Valley. Hicks was declared the overall Winner.
Kathy then read the president general's message, and Janet Kirkpatrick gave the national defender report. The report covered Fort Sill in Oklahoma, which is our oldest fort still in use. It was established by General Sherman and has been designated a national landmark.
Reports were given by those attending the recent invitational meeting in Columbia City. State Regent Lois Huntington was the speaker.
Officers were elected as follows: Kathy Gawthrop, regent; Evelyn Rake, first vice regent; Paulene Holderman, second vice regent; Susan Creamer, recording secretary; Janice Cox, treasurer; Cheryl Faris, assistant treasurer; Kay Ritter, chaplain; Janet Kirkpatrick, assistant chaplain; Millie Martin, registrar; Jane McGuire, assistant registrar.
Kathy reminded us to save "Coupons For Education," which are used by schools that DAR supports. March 25 was National Medal of Honor day, which was established in 1863. Mary Edwards Walker was the first recipient. She was a surgeon during the Civil War, serving the Union Army.
March 29 was National Vietnam Day. Kathy thanked Martha Cesco and Ann Lowman, who were hostesses for the day.
Membership in Daughters of the American Revolution is open to any woman who had an ancestor who fought in or aided the patriot cause during the American Revolution, Contact Kathy Gawthrop at 260-982-7055 with any questions.
Friends Of The Warsaw Library
Volunteer members were honored April 2 at the Friends of the Warsaw Community Public Library’s meeting.
President Merri Bottorff thanked all present for their generous support of FOL.
Treasurer Walt Krygier presented Ann Zydek, WCPL director, with a check for a virtual reality system, an item at the top of the library wish list.
All enjoyed a delicious lunch and social hour.
The next Friends project is in the planning stages. Love-a-Book Cafe will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday in the library’s meeting room A/B. Enjoy a relaxed cafe setting with snacks and beverages available while shopping at the midsize book sale.

Wednesday Night Bridge Group
On April 4 the group had four tables. Winners were Annette Magner, Virginia Horn, Bob Mayer, Mike Herring and Judy Stewart.
Janet and John Wagley are hostess and host for April. The next meeting is April 11.
Four Seasons Ladies Bridge
WINONA LAKE — The group gathered April 4 at Grace Village with Beth Huffer as hostess. Winners were Nanette Newland, ?Maxine Harris, Dian Cartwright and Barb Calhan.
Winona Literary Club
The Winona Literary Club met Wednesday at Robin Hood Community Center with 24 members and two guests present. Prayer was offered by President Carol Volkers and the collect was recited.
The speaker was Lauren Peacock, who showed many examples of her bead work and discussed some history and types of beads.
New officers were elected and committee apointments were announced. Light refreshments were then enjoyed.
The next meeting is April 18.
Grace Thursday Bridge
The group met April 5 with Joan Kizer as hostess.
Winners were Joyce Latta, Rosalee Spear and Kizer.
North Webster Community Center SPEC?
NORTH WEBSTER — Bridge results from the Senior Prime Enrichment Center have been announced.
Frank Garro was first on Thursday, while Barb Kieper was second.
Singles Meeting Friends
Gerald, Charlene and Susanne have returned from Arizona. Vicki has gone to Florida.
Some from the group had planned to attend First Friday’s “Friday Night Live!” Another group is gathering today for the 6:15 p.m. showing of “I Can Only Imagine” at North Pointe Cinemas, Warsaw.
The group will have its monthly game night at 7 p.m. Friday at the upstairs deli at Martin’s Super Market.
Singles Meeting Friends meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Martin’s. All singles are welcome.
