A North Manchester man was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening a woman in a vehicle while he was traveling over 100 mph.
Brian D. Eakright, 33, of 12 W. Skyline Drive, North Manchester, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:34 p.m. Thursday for domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury. His preliminary bond was set at $5,750.
Court documents filed March 26 list the counts against him as domestic battery with moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
On Feb. 28, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy Matthew Holderman responded to a domestic battery complaint. Upon arrival, he spoke with the female victim who said she was with Eakright in a vehicle heading to Pierceton from North Manchester. She said they were arguing and Eakright was going in excess of 100 mph, telling her he was going to run the vehicle into a tree and kill them both.
They arrived at a gas station and the woman got out of the vehicle and went to the restroom. When she returned to the vehicle, the arguing continued. She opened the door to exit the vehicle, but Eakright allegedly grabbed her arm and pulled her back into the vehicle, pulling the door shut on her ankle, causing a laceration. She then got out and ran to the gas station.
Holderman saw the bruises on the victim’s right and left arms, scrapes on her stomach and upper chest and a laceration on her ankle.
The warrant for Eakright’s arrest and a no-contact order between him and the woman were issued March 26.
