Two people face charges after a short chase with police Tuesday, according to a news release from the Warsaw Police Department.

WPD attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on Park Avenue. During police’s attempt to stop the vehicle, the green Buick disregarded a stop sign and took off at a high rate of speed eastbound on Market Street. The vehicle continued to Argonne Road where the driver disregarded the stop sign and struck a northbound van registered to Grace College.

The driver, Miguel Castro, 24, fled on foot.

The vehicle then rolled into a parked vehicle in front of 202 Argonne Road with the female passenger still inside. The vehicle was secured and Castro and his female passenger were taken into custody.

The female passenger, Haleigh Johnson, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Castro admitted to throwing narcotics/narcotic paraphernalia out of the window of his vehicle. He also dropped a bag containing methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia in the area where he was taken into custody.

Castro admitted to ingesting methamphetamine prior to being taken into custody. He was transported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital where he was admitted.

No further information was available as of this morning.
