Tippecanoe Valley Beats Whitko In TRC Boys Tennis

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley won two matches in 12 games, and two more in 13 games in its 5-0 Three Rivers Conference boys tennis sweep of visiting Whitko Tuesday.

The Vikings’ Eric Wright won 6-0, 6-0 over Aiden Hoffman at No. 2 singles, as did the No. 1 doubles team of Dakota Parker and Payton Mills over Whitko’s Charlie French and Kaige Michael.

At No. 3 singles, Valley’s Garrett Feldman won 6-0, 6-1 over Bryce Tucker. Connor Frentzel and Jeremy Landis won 6-1, 6-0 over Jeremy Landis and O.J. Luu at No. 2 doubles.

Seth Hoffman completed the Valley sweep with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Nathan Smith at No. 1 singles.

Valley (4-10) is right back at it today, playing TRC foe Maconaquah in a match rained out Sept. 13. Whitko hosts Wabash in a conference match today.



Squires Down Trojans

NORTH MANCHESTER – Getting wins at all three singles spots and at No. 1 doubles, Manchester took a 4-1 non-conference boys tennis win over visiting Triton Tuesday.

Luke Donathan won 6-0, 6-2 over Triton’s Carter Kuntz at No. 1 singles. Spence Trick won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles over John Gardner, and Kyle Shepherd had a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Trevor Miller at No. 3 singles.

Logan Parrett and Parker Wagoner won 6-3, 6-2 over Chase Butler and Keygan Mosier at No. 1 doubles.

Triton’s Tyler Heckaman and Jared Bules won a third-set super tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles, 2-6, 6-4, 12-10 over Kam Lester and Quinn Martin.

Manchester’s Drake Hatfield won the only junior varsity singles match, 8-0 over William Schactzle. The Squires’ Uria Hein and Grant Strobel won 8-0 over Gavin Greer and Chase Whybrew in the only JV doubles match.

Manchester (7-4) hosts Tippecanoe Valley in a Three Rivers Conference match Thursday. Triton (9-8) is scheduled to open play in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference tournament today.



Lady Tigers Swept

Kacy Bragg had 19 assists and five kills for Warsaw in its 25-18, 25-17, 25-22 non-conference home volleyball loss to Carroll Tuesday.

Alexie Day had nine kills and 10 digs for the Lady Tigers. Kennedy Lauck had five kills and three blocks, Erin Peugh had 10 digs and Hannah Leach five kills for Warsaw.

Warsaw swept the junior varsity match 25-21, 25-11 over Carroll. Gwyn Bellamy had nine kills and two aces for the Lady Tigers, with Katie Schmidt adding two aces, Kylie Prater nine digs, Courtney Chookie eight digs and Katie Schmidt 16 assists.

The Lady Tiger freshmen lost their match 18-25, 25-22, 15-11 to the Lady Chargers. Kendra Love had 15 assists and four aces for Warsaw, with Tessa Wood adding seven kills, Rylee Kaufman 15 digs and Sydney Morel 11 digs.

Warsaw will host Wawasee in a Northern Lakes Conference match Thursday.



Lady Cougars Sweep

HOWE – Kyla Kohler had 10 assists, five kills and four aces for Lakeland Christian in its 25-11, 25-15, 25-14 non-conference volleyball win at Howe Military Tuesday night.

Kenzie Burns had six kills and five digs for the Lady Cougars. Cami Dahms had 11 aces, Heather Plastow seven digs and Shelby Berkey three aces in the match.

Lakeland Christian will play in the Calumet Christian Invitational Saturday.



Winamac Bests Triton

BOURBON – Nichole Sechrist had 16 kills and four blocks for Triton in its 25-20, 23-25, 25-20. 25-23 Hoosier North Athletic Conference volleyball loss to Winamac in the Trojan Trench Tuesday.

Emma Ross had 13 digs and four aces for the Lady Trojans. Hannah Wanemacher had 17 assists, and Alyxa Viers 23 digs for Triton.

Winamac also won the junior varsity match 25-16, 25-16 over Triton.

The Lady Trojans continue HNAC play Thursday night at LaVille.



Lady ‘Cats VB Falls

WABASH – Alicia Sikora had 20 assists and two aces, and Kristina Slater had 18 digs and two aces for Whitko in its 29-27, 25-7, 25-12 Three Rivers Conference volleyball loss to Wabash Tuesday.

Haley Howard had nine kills in the match for the Lady Wildcats.

Whitko (3-20) travels to Hamilton for a non-conference match Thursday.



LCA Comes Back, Falls

FORT WAYNE – After trailing 3-1 at halftime, Anna Reimink scored a match-tying goal with eight minutes remaining for Lakeland Christian. A Fort Wayne Fusion player scored in the final minute to hand the Lady Cougars a 4-3 non-conference girls soccer loss Tuesday.

Tori Calizo scored in the first half for the Lady Cougars, and Lauren Starrett cut the halftime lead to one with a goal in the 50th minute.

“Our team has greatly improved since the start of the season,” LCA coach Nat Raber said. “We played Fusion in our first game of the season and lost 7-1.

“Our team was in it. I’m very happy with the fight our girls showed tonight. Coming back from two goals down to tie the game and take a team that had beaten us soundly down to the wire is definitely something to build on.”

Lakeland Christian (3-5) visits Bremen for a non-conference match Thursday.



RedHawks Blast Wawasee

SYRACUSE – Blayne Faught gave Wawasee an early lead with a goal off a pass from Ian Lambright, but Goshen scored 10 unanswered goals in its 10-2 Northern Lakes Conference boys soccer win at Warrior Field Tuesday.

Ryan Edington scored a late goal with an assist from Chris Pena.

Goshen won the junior varsity game 4-0 over the Warriors.

Wawasee (4-4-3, 0-4 NLC) plays a non-conference match against Lakeland in LaGrange Thursday.



Lady Warriors Blanked

MIDDLEBURY – Graceanne Kerlin had seven saves for Wawasee in its 9-0 Northern Lakes Conference girls soccer loss at Northridge Tuesday.

Wawasee (3-9 overall, 0-3 NLC) will host Plymouth for a conference match Thursday.
