Longeneckers Married For 65 Years

Joe Longenecker and the former Norma Bales were married Sept. 21, 1952, in Hagerstown Methodist Church by the Rev. Whealy.
Joe enlisted in the Air Force and served in the school of ophthalmology. He transferred to the Army and, after receiving his officer’s commission, served in Korea. Upon his return, Joe served 28 years in the Indiana Air National Guard, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He also worked in marketing for Hartford Insurance.
Norma worked as a registered nurse.
The Longeneckers had three children: Jay (Patti) Longenecker, Cicero; Jennifer (Ken) Miller, Anderson; and Chris Longenecker, who is deceased. (His wife, Missy, lives in North Webster.) They have five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The couple will celebrate their anniversary with a quiet reception with family.
