Wawasee Boys Soccer Gets Non-Conference Win

COLUMBIA CITY – Chris Pena and Ethan Carey scored first-half goals, and Ryan Edington found the net in the second half for Wawasee in its 3-2 non-conference boys soccer win at Columbia City Wednesday.

Ian Lambright assisted on both opening-half goals, and Pena got the assist on the Edington goal.

Frank Planchon scored both goals for the host Eagles.

“The guys played well. We let (Planchon) put two away on us, which was regrettable,” Wawasee head coach Jordan Sharp said. “Many guys played their best game tonight. We need to show more patience in the final third to create a good scoring chance.”

The Warrior junior varsity got a goal from Jace Mishler, off an assist by Cam Gillum, in its 1-1 draw with the Eagles.

Wawasee (4-3-2) plays at East Noble at 11 a.m. Saturday.



Zebras Down Viking Soccer

ROCHESTER – Tippecanoe Valley fell 2-0 to visiting Rochester in Three Rivers Conference boys soccer Wednesday.

The Zebra goals came with 30 seconds left in the first half, and at the 49-minute mark.

Valley (1-8, 0-4 TRC) plays at Peru today.



Lady Trojan Golf Edges Plymouth By 4 Shots

PLYMOUTH – Megan McFarland was the medalist, shooting a 46 to lead Triton to a 198-202 win over host Plymouth at Pretty Lake Golf Club Wednesday.

Katie Gardner had a 48 and Alysha May a 49 for the Lady Trojans. Whytnie Miller shot a 55 and Delaney Groves a 64 for Triton.

Lakeland Christian’s Abigail Fishel was runner-up to McFarland, shooting a 47. Breanna Smith had a 62 for LCA.

Triton wrapped up its regular season with a 15-7 record, and will join Lakeland Christian at the Warsaw Sectional Saturday.

The Trojans (8-7) play a Hoosier North Athletic Conference match today, hosting North Judson.

Two Times-Union area boys tennis matches were rained out Wednesday.

Tippecanoe Valley will now host Manconaquah in Three Rivers Conference play on Sept. 20.

Whitko’s TRC match at Rochester was moved to Saturday.
