Warsaw Tiger Cross Country Sweeps NLC Foe RedHawks
GOSHEN – Zeb Hernandez won the boys race for Warsaw, as did Sierra Palmer for the Lady Tigers as the Warsaw cross country teams swept Goshen in Northern Lakes Conference competition Tuesday. the Lady Tigers won 16-47 while the boys score was 20-40 for Warsaw.
In the boys race, Zavi Ramierz was third, Lucas Howett fourth, Taylor Mills fifth, and Sam Lechlitner eighth for Warsaw.
Others in the top 20 were Nathaniel Gottschalk in 10th, Anthony Bass in 15, Tanner Stiver in 16th, Nick Bazzoni in 17th, Ryan bonebrake in 18, Jacob Kissling in 19th and Eric Williamson in 20th.
The Lady Tigers had the top four spots with Palmer, Mia Beckham, Megan Metzler and Aubrey Hepler, respectively. Megan Dawson was sixth, Hanna Bloemendal seventh and Lexi Desenberg eighth.
Warsaw’s girls team will run in the IWU Wildcat Classic on Saturday, and both teams resume NLC competition Tuesday, hosting Concord and NorthWood.
Eagles Down Trojans
BOURBON – Culver Academies took the top four places in its 17-44 boys cross country win over Triton Tuesday.
Josiah Page was the top finisher for Triton, taking fifth, and Brandon Kitch was sixth. Ty Ferry was 11th, Rusty Reichard 12th, Brock Watkins 20th, Trent Barnhart 22nd and Agosto Salgade was 28th.
Baylee McIntire won the girls race in 22 minutes flat, and Brianna white was fourth. The Lady Trojans didn’t have a full team.
Triton will compete in the Tippecanoe Valley Invitational on Saturday.
Wawasee Boys, Girls Swept In NLC Races
MIDDLEBURY – Wawasee’s cross country teams each lost a pair of Northern Lakes Conference races Tuesday. The Warrior boys fell 28-29 to NorthWood and 18-44 to Northridge. The Lady Warriors dropped a 20-41 matchup with NorthWood and 16-47 with Northridge.
Luke Griner was second overall for the Wawasee boys, with Spencer Hare taking third. Michael Hammer, Braxton Alexander, Jace Alexander and Thomas Conley had places 8-11, respectively, and Bennett Hoffert was 13th.
Kenzie Smith was sixth overall for the Lady Warriors. Caitlin Wortinger was 13th, Aubrey Kuhn 18th, Autumn Turner 22nd, Valeria Pizana 24th and Ella Beezley was 29th.
The Wawasee girls will run in the IWU Wildcat Classic on Saturday. Both squads return to NLC racing Tuesday at Elkhart Memorial.
