Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers

The Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers held their Achievement Night in the pavillion at Central Park on Aug. 23.  

The theme was "Hawaii," and all of the ladies were encouraged to dress in their Hawaiian attire.  The program was given by Janice Bolin on Hawaiian foods.

The Homemaker Lifetime Achievement Award honor was given to Eleanor Watkins.

Club awards and fair entry awards were also presented, along with recognition of new and long-time members.

 

Warsaw Rotary Club

Warsaw Rotary Club President DeeAnna Muraski recently met the president of Rotary International,  Ian H.S. Riseley, who was visiting in Elkhart for that club’s 100th anniversary.  

Riseley is from the Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria, Australia, and is serving as the international leader for 2017-18.  

Muraski, who works at Grace College, recently took the helm of the Warsaw club. The group is working on Warsaw Rotary Park in anticipation of its 100th anniversary celebration in 2019.

Last Monday Euchre Club

The Last Monday Euchre Club met at Warsaw Senior Center on Aug. 28.

High winner was Asenath Wilson, most lones was Mary  Grubbs and low was Bonnie Cleveland.  

The next meeting will be at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at Warsaw Senior Center.



Four Seasons Ladies Bridge

The Four Seasons Ladies Bridge met Aug. 30 at the Great Wall.  

The winners were Dorothy Sweeney, Beth Huffer, Virginia Horn and Nanette Newland.  

Maxine Harris was the hostess.



Wednesday Night Bridge Group

The group had seven tables at its Aug. 30 gathering.

Winners were Joan Kizer, Babs Haines, Nanette Newland, Hugh Ressler, Joyce Metz, Grant Magner, Jim Levandis and Annette Magner.  

Janet and John Wagley were hostess and host.



Singles Meeting Friends

Twelve people attended this week’s meeting, when Donna brought brochures for the Apple Festival Sept. 14-17 in Nappanee.

Other upcoming events include the Blueberry Festival, through Monday in Plymouth, and Homes on Parade in  Warsaw and Syracuse, Sept. 15-17.

The group meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays upstairs at Martin’s Super Market, Warsaw.

Game night is planned for Friday at Martin’s.

Purdue Alumni Club

The annual meeting of the Purdue Alumni Club of Kosciusko County is planned for 6 p.m. Sept. 28 at Maple Leaf Farms, Leesburg.

Featured speaker Sharon Versyp, Purdue’s women’s head basketball coach, will give an insider’s look at the women’s basketball program, review the past season and share her vision for the future of the program.

Courtney Magnuson, director for regional alumni outreach and engagement, will share campus updates and report on developing initiatives at Purdue.

In addition, a live and silent auction is planned to benefit the scholarship program.

Maple Leaf Farms is at 101 E. Church St., Leesburg. Reservation deadline is Sept. 18.

The Pizza King bridge group played Aug. 28 with June Stealy as hostess.

Winners were Joyce Latta, Ann Thallemer and Lila O’Connell.



North Webster Community Center Bridge

NORTH WEBSTER — Bridge results from this week at the Senior Prime Enrichment Center have been announced.

On Aug. 29, Wanda Wyrick was first and Suze Wilt was second.

On Aug. 31, Dick Roby was first and Jan Hodson was second.
