James H. Tuttle, 68, Rochester Hills, Mich., died Oct. 5, 2017, at his home after a battle with cancer. 

James was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Warsaw, the son of Richard Gordon and Mary Naomi Studebaker Tuttle. He graduated from Pierceton High School in 1967. On June 12, 1971, he married his beloved wife, Virginia Baumgartner.

James obtained a mechanical engineering Ph.D from Purdue University and worked for General Motors for 39 years, retiring in 2015. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and sang in the choir and was a church head trustee.

James enjoyed woodworking, playing his guitar, cruising in his Corvette, biking, watching sports and traveling, but most of all he loved the time he shared with his family. 

James is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughters, Lori (Kevin) Price, Rochester, Mich., and Paula (Adam) Olson, Hilliard, Ohio; grandchildren: Kaleb, John and Matthew Price and Olivia and Alexa Olson; sisters, Jayne St. Marie (Jim Mondello), Palm City, Fla., and Carol Whitesell, Warsaw; his mother-in-law, Margaret Baumgartner, Warsaw; a sister-in-law, Carol (Bill) Sisk, Claypool; and a brother-in-law, Jerry (Deb) Baumgartner, Mentone.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.  

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 165 E. Square Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills.
