NORTH MANCHESTER — Carol Ann Schenkel McKee, 81, Silver Lake, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Peabody Retirement Community.

She was born Dec. 12, 1935, to Raymond and Lucille Johnson Schenkel in Wabash.  

She graduated from Marion High School and Warner Beauty College, Fort Wayne.

On Oct. 15, 1955, she married Richard W. McKee.

She had Carol Ann’s Beauty Shop in their home in North Manchester, then worked in the cafeteria at Manchester High School and later for Real Services at Silver Lake Nutrition Site. She was a member of Moose 1518 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 286.

She loved living at the lake, seeing her grandchildren and laughter.

Carol is survived by a son, Tony (Cheryl) McKee, Millsboro, Del.; a daughter, Lori (Ralph Jr.) Dotson, Silver Lake; grandchildren: Melanie (Greg) Baker, Dover, Del.; Matthew (Ashley) McKee, Dover; Gregory McKee, Baltimore, Md.; Lindsay Simcoe, Indianapolis; and April Lachlan, Scotland; two great-grandchildren, Phoenix Baker and Emma McKeel; a sister, Annetta (Jerry) Dorman, Fort Wayne; and an aunt, Jeanne Mayer, Elkhart.  

Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Oct. 28 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m. at McKee Mortuary. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate.

Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley St., North Manchester.
