Lady Tigers Hand Concord First NLC Volleyball Loss
DUNLAP – Alexie Day had 24 kills and 24 digs, and Katie Swanson added 24 kills for Warsaw in its 25-20, 12-25, 14-25, 25-17, 15-11 come-from-behind volleyball win at Northern Lakes Conference front-runner Concord Thursday.
It was the Lady Minutemen’s first conference loss in seven matches.
Erin Peugh had 27 digs in the match for the Lady Tigers. Addie Dickerhoff, Emalie Grose, Kacy Bragg and Peugh all had an ace for Warsaw.
In junior varsity play, Warsaw lost a three-set match 15-25, 25-24, 15-11 to Concord. Gwyn Bellamy had 15 digs and seven kills for the Lady Tigers, and Kenzie Martz added 10 kills. Kylie Prater had 13 digs, Katie Schmidt four aces and McKenna Hawblitzel three aces for Warsaw.
The freshman match went Warsaw’s way 25-7, 25-13 over the Lady Minutemen. Tessa Wood had eight kills and three aces for Warsaw. Allison Zartman had three kills, Rylee Kaufman seven digs, Kendra Love four aces, Emma Spencer three aces and Sydney Morel three aces for Warsaw.
Warsaw finished its regular season 20-13 overall and 5-2 in the conference. The Lady Tigers return to Concord for sectional play Thursday, taking on Elkhart Memorial.
Triton Down South Central
UNION MILLS – Nichole Sechrist had 18 kills, 16 digs and seven blocks to lead Triton to a 25-17, 23-25, 25-13, 25-13 non-conference volleyball win at South Central Thursday night.
Charlotte Morris had eight kills and three blocks for the Lady Trojans. Hannah Wanemacher had 34 assists, 15 digs and four aces. Abbey Viers had 12 kills, Alyxa Viers four aces, and Sydney Musilli 14 digs for Triton.
The junior varsity match was won by Triton 25-16, 25-18 over South Central.
The Lady Trojans (13-16) and Lady Satellites (13-15) have a rematch in the first round of the 1A Culver Community Sectional at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Valley Sweeps Southwood
AKRON – Sophie Bussard had 20 kills, 10 digs and a pair of block assists for Tippecanoe Valley in its 25-22, 25-23, 26-24 Three Rivers Conference volleyball win over visiting Southwood Thursday.
Emily Peterson had 28 assists and Marlea Myers four aces for Valley.
The Lady Vikings won the junior varsity match 25-11, 25-20 over the Lady Knights. Allison Betten had five aces and four digs, Sidney Wagner six kills, Sarah Myers six assists and Alexis Michael four aces for Valley.
Tippecanoe Valley (22-11, 6-3 TRC) opens play in the 3A NorthWood Sectional at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against 23-6 Fairfield.
Manchester Falls In 3 Sets
NORTH MANCHESTER – Emma West had 13 digs and five assists, and Kendra Auler had five digs, three assists, two kills and an ace for Manchester in its 25-19, 25-21, 25-13 non-conference volleyball loss to visiting Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian Thursday.
Kara Kline had 12 digs, two blocks and a kill, and Sydney Day had six digs, four kills, a block and an assist for the Lady Squires.
Blackhawk won the junior varsity match 13-25, 25-18, 15-11 over Manchester.
The Lady Squires (7-21) open play in the 2A Rochester Sectional against Cass (2-26) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Wawasee Closes With Loss
SYRACUSE – Tiffany Koble had eight digs and Hannah Gaerte had five kills for Wawasee in its 25-12, 25-15, 25-14 Northern Lakes Conference volleyball loss to visiting NorthWood Thursday.
Peyton Rookstool had three kills and Hannah-Marie Lamle two blocks for the Lady Warriors.
The Lady Panthers won the junior varsity match 25-13, 25-9 over Wawasee.
The freshman match was won by Wawasee, 21-25, 25-12, 15-8 over NorthWood. Emma Dippon had six kills, four aces and four blocks, Morgan Heche two digs and Catherine Ondrla and Corin Nyce two assists each.
Wawasee (5-24, 0-7 NLC) begins play in the 3A NorthWood Sectional against West Noble at 6 p.m. Thursday.
LCA Falls At Caston
FULTON – Lakeland Christian senior Kyla Kohler had 20 assists, six aces and six kills, and Heather Plastow had 16 digs in the Lady Cougars’ 25-23, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20 non-conference volleyball loss at Caston Thursday.
Carlie Wise had 10 kills and four aces, and Cami Dahms added six kills and four aces for the Lady Cougars. Mykenzie Burns had four aces and seven kills, Morgan Ziebarth nine digs and Baylee Wiley eight digs in the match.
Lakeland Christian has a first-round bye in the 1A Fremont Sectional and will play the host Lady Eagles at 1 p.m. Oct. 14.
Lady Squires Soccer Advances
FORT WAYNE – Julie Dalsager scored twice and Carsyn Howard once for Manchester in its 3-1 girls soccer win over Woodlan in the 1A Fort Wayne Blackhawk Sectional semifinals Thursday.
Gabbie Brewer had an assist on Howard’s goal, and Kiera Stacy had 10 saves for the Lady Squires.
Manchester (13-4-1) will face host Blackhawk Christian (12-3-2) for the sectional title at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Wawasee Eliminated
LAGRANGE – Wawasee’s girls soccer team ended its season with a 4-0 loss to NorthWood in the 2A Lakeland Sectional Thursday night.
Goalkeeper Graceanne Kerlin had 15 saves for Wawasee. The Lady Warriors finished their season with a 3-14 record.
