Sectional Draw For IHSAA Volleyball Tourney Released

INDIANAPOLIS – Sectional pairings for the 46th annual IHSAA volleyball state tournament were announced Monday night.

Warsaw will play Elkhart Memorial in the second game of the 4A Concord Sectional at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12. With a win the Lady Tigers would face either Goshen or Northridge at 11 a.m. Oct. 14. The sectional title match is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 14.

Wawasee will face West Noble in the opening game of the 3A NorthWood Sectional at 5 p.m. Oct. 12. The sectional was moved from West Noble due to construction there.

Tippecanoe Valley takes on Fairfield in the second game Oct. 12, with the winners of those two games playing in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Oct. 14.

Lakeland and NorthWood play in the second semifinal at about 12:30 p.m. Oct. 14. The title match will be at 5 p.m. Oct. 14.

Whitko will play Wabash in the first game of the 2A Rochester Sectional at 5 p.m. Oct. 14, followed by Manchester taking on Cass. The winners of those two matches play at 11 a.m. Oct. 14, followed by the second semifinal between Rochester and North Miami. The sectional title match is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 14.

Triton will play South Central in the first game of the 1A Culver Community Sectional at 7 p.m. Oct. 10. The winner of that match takes on the host Lady Cavaliers in the first semifinal at 11 a.m. Oct. 14.

South Bend Career Academy and LaCrosse will play in the first game of a doubleheader Oct. 12, followed by Oregon-Davis and Argos. The winners of those two matches play in the second semifinal at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 14, with the title match starting at 7 p.m.

Lakeland Christian has a bye into the semifinals of the 1A Fremont Sectional and will play the host Lady Eagles at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 14.

On the other side of the bracket, Bethany Christian and Elkhart Christian will open the tournament at 5 p.m. Oct. 12, followed by Lakewood Park Christian and Hamilton. The winners of those matches face off in the first semifinal at 11 a.m. Oct. 14. The sectional title match will follow at 6 p.m.



Lady ‘Cats Fall In 4

SOUTH WHITLEY – Alicia Sikora had 30 assists and Carissa Beck had 10 kills for Whitko in its 25-18, 25-20, 17-25, 25-17 Three Rivers Conference volleyball loss to visiting Northfield Monday.

Haley Howard had seven kills and two aces for the Lady Wildcats. Kristina Slater had 17 digs and five aces and Sarah Hewitt 24 digs for Whitko.

The Lady Wildcats (5-21) play at Tippecanoe Valley Wednesday.



Lady Vikings Swept

ROCHESTER – Sophie Bussard had 12 kills and Olivia Trippiedi 10 digs for Tippecanoe Valley in its 25-15, 25-20, 25-23 Three Rivers Conference volleyball loss at Rochester Monday.

Emily Peterson had 26 assists and two blocks, and Amy Baca two blocks for the Lady Vikings.

In junior varsity play, Valley earned a 25-10, 25-22 decision over the Lady Zebras. Kennedie Brooks had six digs and three aces for the Lady Vikings. Mackenzie Costello had four kills, Alexis Evans three aces, and Hayley Backus one block in the match.

Now 20-11 overall, Tippecanoe Valley will host Whitko in a conference match Wednesday.



Lady Squires Swept

NORTH MANCHESTER – Visiting Oak Hill earned a 26-24, 25-19, 25-23 non-conference volleyball win over host Manchester Monday.

Statistics for the match were not available as of press time.

The Lady Squire junior varsity won 25-13, 25-20 over Oak Hill. Krysten Eakright had five kills and four blocks, and Greta Auler added two aces and eight digs.

Manchester plays a non-conference match at Winamac today.
