A recreation van supplier is eyeing the shell building at the Warsaw Technology Park with a promise of 100 new jobs in exchange for a tax abatement.

Warsaw City Council on Monday night awarded a request for a personal property tax abatement by Patrick Industries Inc.

“They expect to spend around a little over $3 million in new equipment and hire  over 100 new employees over the next few years,” said City Planner Jeremy Skinner .

“Certainly, their request meets all of our guidelines. Keep in mind that for personal property our only guideline is that they add new equipment or spend a million dollars in personal property,” he said.

The building is at 1445 Polk Drive.

City councilwoman Diane Quance said, “I’m just excited to hear what you’re going to be doing out there.”

Josh Boone, Patrick Industries vice president of finance and chief financial officer, said, “We’ll be producing fiberglass products for all of our ‘A’ markets, the recreational vehicle, manufactured housing and our industrial market, which is a lot of residential products. So, we produce showers and tubs – fiberglass showers tubs – fiberglass showers and tubs ... for the RV industry.”

Quance welcomed the diversification to the local workforce.

“Absolutely,” Skinner said. “We’re excited obviously to occupy the shell building and continue to make improvements out in our technology park. A lot of good things.

Quance made the motion to approve the tax abatement and it was unanimously approved.
