Matthew Wanemacher Named Chief Petty Officer

He is the son of Jim and Kim Wanemacher, Warsaw; grandson to Bob and Marcia Burris, Warsaw; Bob and Peg Wanemacher, Bourbon, and the late Jeanette Wanemacher.
Matthew enlisted in October 2001 shortly after 9/11 to serve his country. After completing his basic training and Aviation Ordnanceman “A” school in Pensacola, Fla., he reported to the precommissioning Unit USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier in Newport News, Va., assigned to the G-3 Weapons Department.

Upon completion of his first sea duty and achieving rank of petty officer second class, he attended the H-60 “C” school.
In 2006, he reported to the USS Cape St. George CG-71 battleship for his second round of sea duty. In 2009, he reported to Helicopter Maritime Strike Weapons School Pacific where he provided training to 11 squadrons.
In addition, he served as the lead small arms marksmanship instructor.
In July 2012, he transferred to the Blue Hawks of HSM-78, serving as the ordnance leading petty officer for the world’s most advanced multi-mission helicopters where he was deployed aboard the aircraft carriers USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) and completed his last deployment in the South China Sea.
Matthew will report to Fleet Readiness Center West in Lemoore, Calif., this month. His family joining him are his wife, Ashley; son Julian, 2; and newborn daughter Brynlee.
Attending the pinning ceremony in San Diego were his parents Jim and Kim Wanemacher; grandparents Bob and Marcia Burris, in-laws Paul and Jan Robichaud and sister-in-law Brook Robichaud.
