Lakeland Christian Opens Season With Win Over Caston
WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian had three players in double figures, helping the Cougars cruise to a 61-49 non-conference boys basketball win over visiting Caston in the season-opening game for both teams.
Josh McDaniel hit a trio of three-point shots and finished with 21 points. Jake Harmon hit four treys en route to 14 points, and Elijah Raymond had 11 for Lakeland Christian.
The Cougars bolted to a 17-4 lead after the first quarter and led 32-15 at halftime.
Caston won the junior varsity game 36-31.
Next up for LCA is a road game at Bethany Christian Nov. 28.

Lady Vikes Roll To Big Win
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley opened its Three Rivers Conference girls basketball season in style, getting big performances from several players in a 76-15 rout over visiting Maconaquah Tuesday night.
Addy Miller hit seven three-pointers and finished with 25 points. Sophie Bussard hit six of seven shots from the floor, scoring 12 points. Mackenzie Woodcox had a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, and Olivia Trippiedi had 10 points for the Lady Vikings.
Valley also rolled to an easy victory in the junior varsity game, 47-5 over the Lady Braves. Sidney Wagner had 16 points and Jillian Walls 10 for the Lady Vikes.
Next up for Tippecanoe Valley is its Thanksgiving Classic tournament Saturday. Valley takes on Goshen at 10 a.m.

DENVER – Lakeland Christian fell behind 18-4 after the first quarter and eventually fell 41-22 at North Miami in a non-conference girls basketball game Tuesday.
Tori Calizo had six points and Anna Reimink five for the Lady Cougars. Brady Gross and Jess Slone each had eight rebounds.
North Miami also won the junior varsity game 35-22 over LCA.
Next up for the Lady Cougars is a Hoosier Plains Conference game. They will host South Bend Community Baptist Nov. 28.

NAPPANEE – NorthWood broke a tie late in the game to take a 30-28 non-conference girls basketball win over visiting Triton Tuesday night.
Hannah Wanemacher had a game-high 13 points for Triton. Whytnie Miller had eight, Nicole Sechrist had five and Abigail Powell had two for the Lady Trojans.
The junior varsity game also went to the Lady Panthers 38-26 over Triton. Alyxa Viers had seven points, Lexia Hostrawser had five, Jaela Faulkner three and Abby Viers two for the Lady Trojans.
Triton (2-5) will open play in its tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday against Lebanon in the Trojan Trench. Sheridan and Leo are the other teams in the tourney.

BENTON – Fairfield had a strong start and a stronger finish in its 52-27 non-conference boys basketball win over visiting Wawasee in the season opener for both teams.
The Falcons outscored the Warriors 11-2 in the first period and 22-7 over the last eight minutes.
Jairus Boyer had 16 points to pace Wawasee. Trevon Coleman had five points, Austin Miller had three points and Jacob Hand had three points and a team-high seven rebounds.

East Noble Edges Lady Warrior Swimmers
SYRACUSE – Ella Park and Rileigh Atwood won two events each, and were members of two winning relay teams for Wawasee in its 92-84 non-conference girls swimming loss to visiting East Noble Tuesday.
Park won the 200 and 500 freestyle races, and Atwood took the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. The duo teamed with Belle Brunner and Alyssa Koch to win the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
Wawasee will open Northern Lakes Conference competition Saturday morning at Warsaw.

Peru Wrestlers Down Squires In TRC Match
PERU – Manchester won four matches by pin, but fell 58-24 to Peru in Three Rivers Conference wrestling Tuesday.
Sophomore Kevin Morales (132 pounds) won by pin in his first career match. Braden Fortner (138), Wade France (152) and Trey McNall (220) also pinned their opponents.
Next up for Manchester is the Wabash County Meet on Dec. 2.
