Helen Irene Brown, 92, a longtime resident of Warsaw, passed away quietly on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at 6:35 p.m. in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.

Helen was born on Oct. 13, 1925, in Duluth, Minn. She was the daughter of the late Claude James and Nelia Mae Rehm Tiffany.

She would graduate from Westville High School with the class of 1944 and attended Valparaiso University for two years.

On April 4, 1946, Helen was united in marriage to William Stephen Brown in LaPorte. Together they made their home in Warsaw. They would share 58 years together prior to his passing on Oct. 9, 2004.

Helen was a homemaker but had worked for Crystal Lake Egg Products for 15 years prior to her 1988 retirement.

She enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans, blankets and other projects – some of which she gave as gifts. She enjoyed many kinds of crafts and loved reading, appreciating many genres. She had also enjoyed flower gardening. A firm but loving person, her family was her focus; this included caring for seven young children while her husband worked nights. Helen had been involved in her neighborhood Home Economics club and was a lover of animals.

Those who survive include two sons: Mark (Sandi) Brown, Stillwater, Minn., and Matthew (Jean François Moisan) Brown, Puiseax En Bray, France; five daughters: Claudia Carson, Winona Lake; Elizabeth Brown, Lexington, Ky.; Sarah Flenar, Fort Recovery, Ohio; Kathryn Hughes, Warsaw; and Margaret (Wayne) Kegley, Barbee Lake; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, William, Helen was preceded in passing by her sister, Grace Tollerud, and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday, Nov. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. A funeral service which celebrates Helen’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Michael Barnes, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Cook Chapel Cemetery, Warsaw.
