‘We Care Warsaw’ Planned Saturday At Grace College

WINONA LAKE – We Care Warsaw, a day of helping to meet the needs of local people in need, will be from  2 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The 10th annual event will be at the Gordon Rec Center on the campus of Grace College and the Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church.

Anyone with economic needs are invited. It is provided by the Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, in partnership with numerous community organizations.

Complimentary full-course dinner seatings will be at 3, 3:45, 4:30 and 5:15 p.m. Pick up free tickets at the welcome desk.  Dinners are limited to 250 per seating time as free tickets remain available. The dinner will include roasted turkey breast, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole, apple and pumpkin pie, coffee, milk and water.

Door prizes will include several $75 and $100 gift cards and will be distributed between 5 and 5:30 p.m.

At the Christmas gift store, parents may purchase deeply discounted toys, educational children’s materials, gloves, hats and scarves for their children. Free Christmas gifts wrapping will be provided.  about 350 individuals from the church volunteered and 1,100 attended. Organizers also provided more than 400 family photos, 120 haircuts, manicures and makeovers, 900 full-course hot turkey meals. More than  300 bags of groceries were given out by the World Compassion Network. Attendees also got flu shots, health screenings and more.

This year, resource tables will be stationed by Beaman Home, Cardinal Services/Kosciusko Head Start, Early Childhood Alliance, Heartline Pregnancy Center, Thrivent, BrightPoint, Combined Community Services, Goodwill Career Center, American Red Cross and World Compassion Network.

Providing donations will be Ab & Tom’s Auto Care, oil changes; Cardinal Services, vision screenings; Egg Innovations, eggs; Grace College, use of the facility; Expressions, Conley Barber, Fiesta Hair Salon, Sandy Shuter, Studio 649, Village Barber, hair stylists and barbers; Masterson Chiropractic, back screenings; Northern Indiana Hispanic Health Coalition, various health screenings; Sodexco Food Service, meal preparation for the turkey dinner; WCN, bags of grocers, and various donations from Big R, CVS, Meijer, MudLOVE, Owen’s Supermarket, TJ Maxx, Walmart and Walgreens.
