The Kloset Boutique Will Be Unveiled At First Friday

As food trucks continue to gain notoriety, Kerri Cook thinks the same concept can be extended in a more fashionable way.
Cook is expected to unveil her fashion truck, The Kloset Boutique, at this week’s First Friday event in downtown Warsaw. She’ll be parked in the municipal lot just south of the courthouse.
The concept is simple. Instead of a bricks-and-mortar operation, Cook said she thinks bringing her merchandise to people can have some unique advantages.
Her business interest began in 2013 when she began selling clothes on Facebook. Creating a group on Facebook (The Kloset Boutique) helped boost sales, and a few weeks ago, she launched a corresponding website, shopthekloset.com.
The truck has an eye-catching turquoise design that wraps around the entire exterior. A huge zipper adorns the back where the doors open up.
Inside, along with a display area, the truck has a dressing room and provides air conditioning and heating.
She said she spent time researching the idea of using a truck versus a store and believes she will have less overhead by using a truck.
“I can actually take my products to them and I don’t have to wait for customers to come to me,” she said.
Unlike Facebook sales, the truck allows customers to try on clothes before choosing to buy, she said.
Cook said most of her merchandise will feature tops and dresses and said the inventory will likely continue to change.
She also plans to carry some jewelry and children’s items.
A big part of the business will rely on private shopping parties. She also plans to participate in special events.
She plans to participate in a craft show scheduled for June 10 at Creighton’s Crazy Egg on Old 30 west of Warsaw.
