On Feb. 17, 1929, she was born in Detroit, Mich., to Carl and Marian Leathers Wilson. Kay was united in marriage to William “Bill” Farrar on Aug. 16, 1947, in Mt. Clemens, Mich. He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 2005.
Kay graduated from Mt. Clemons High School, then graduated from Manchester College with a bachelor’s degree. She then graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a master’s degree.
After moving to the Warsaw area, Kay became a teacher at Leesburg High School, where she taught high school speech and English and directed all of the junior and senior class plays. In 1967, she became a high school guidance counselor for Warsaw High School, where she also helped sponsor the cheerleaders’ squad.
Kay was a member of First United Methodist Church, Warsaw, where she was involved in the Thursday Circle and also the Thursday Morning Bible Study Group. She also was a member of the Eastern Star, Retired Teachers Association, past president of Home Extension Club and served as a CASA representative for several years. Kay also enjoyed playing bridge and participated in various bridge groups.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol (spouse Pat) Ireland, North Manchester, and Jane (spouse Greg) Haney, Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Kay also was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Roesch; and two brothers, Charles Wilson and Al Moran.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, in First United Methodist Church, Warsaw, with Pastor Mark Need officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
