Wednesday Afternoon Ladies Bridge
Ven Endsely was hostess of the group’s May 17 get-together at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club.
Winners were Andy Overmyer and Gayle Atkins.
Indiana Extension Homemakers Association
The annual Spring Fling for Indiana Extension Homemakers Association was May 18 at the Atwood Community Building.
The theme this year was “Hold on to Your Hats,” and everyone attending was encouraged to make and wear a hat. A salad bar buffet was provided by the Tippecanoe Township Club, and entertainment was provided by the county chorus directed by Dan Beam.
Fine arts and hat entries were voted on during the evening. Winners were Lilly Miller for her pink hat and Martha Klinger for her wall hanging. June Thomas narrated “What’s New on the Runway” and the “Parade of Hats.”
Indiana Extension Homemakers is supported by Purdue University. It is part of a worldwide organization that aims to raise families’ standard of living through promotion of nutrition, health, leadership training, equality, literacy and the environment.
American Association Of University Women
The May meeting of the American Association of University Women was May 20 at Bella Vitale Restaurant, Warsaw, with 13 members and one guest attending.
Following brunch, President Pam Chastain conducted the business meeting. Pam provided information about the successful garage sale to raise funds for the group’s scholarships. Also discussed were the hostess sign-up for fall and program booklets to be distributed in the fall.
Deb Blatz gave the secretary’s report and Marsha Smith gave her final treasurer’s report. These were followed by the installation of new officers: Linda Scalet, membership vice president; Ruth Jones, vice president for programs, and Cindy Nolton, treasurer.
Heather Helton-Adams was inducted as a new member.
Last Monday Euchre Club
The Last Monday Euchre Club met at the Warsaw Senior Center May 22.
High was Cheryl Farrell, most lones was Toni Wilson and low was Linda Hatfield.
The next meeting will be at 12:30 p.m. June 26, at the Warsaw Senior Center.
Daughters Of The American Revolution
Agnes Pruyn Chapman DAR met May 23 at Richards Restaurant, Warsaw, with 10 members and one guest present.
Following lunch, Regent Kathy Gawthrop led the opening rituals and read the president general's message. She reminded everyone that the district meeting will be in North Manchester on Aug. 11. Reservations are due by July 31.
Paulene Holderman gave the national defense report on DAR's involvement during World War I. From 1917 on, DAR helped shape the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and supported children orphaned by the war through 1922.
The memorial service for deceased members scheduled for May will be held at the June Meeting.
After the meeting, the group went to Stoney Point Cemetery outside Clunette, where Adrian Anglin, the county's only known Revolutionary War veteran, is buried. Jack Anglin and his two daughters met us at the cemetery. His daughter Beth showed us a picture of Adrian and his wife. She gave some facts about him and his family's emigration to Kosciusko County from western Virginia. He and his wife only lived a few years after settling here. Gawthrop and her aunt, Pat VanDeWater, another member, are also descendants of Adrian Anglin.
Our next meeting will be at 6 p.m. June 27 at the Senior Center on Park Avenue for a carry-in dinner.
Membership in Daughters of the American Revolution is open to any woman who had an ancestor who fought in or aided the patriot cause during the American Revolution. Contact Gawthrop at 260-982-7055 with any questions.
Four Seasons Ladies Bridge
The group met May 24 at Wyndham Garden Hotel with Helen Miller as hostess.
Winners were Liz Frazzetta, Miller, Peg Zimmerman and Barbara Calhan.
Wednesday Night Bridge Group
The group had six tables May 24 with the following winners: John Wagley, Janet Wagley, Bob Mayer, Joan Earhart, Elim Smith, Jack Horney and Rosalee Spear.
Janet and John Wagley are hostess and host for May.
Singles Meeting Friends
The group had good attendance, including a guest, ?Linda, at its May 24 meeting.
Stories were told about “what we used to do.” The evening also included social time and cards.
Members were reminded of today’s Milford Fest, where several events are scheduled.
The group meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Martin’s Super Market.

Winners were Rosalee Spear, Sharon Tuttle and Edith Vitoux.
Mary Eherenman was hostess.

NORTH WEBSTER — Bridge results for the Senior Prime Enrichment Center have been announced.
On May 23, winners were Jean, Cowan, first, and Wanda Wyrick and Richard Blank, tied for second.
On May 25, winners were Blank, first, and Andrea Overmyer, second.
