SYRACUSE – The Wawasee athletic department named Eastside’s Mike Eshbach as the Warriors’ new football coach Tuesday. He replaces Josh Ekovich, who stepped down from the position last month.

Taking over at Eastside (located in Butler) in 2008 Eshbach complied a 46-49 record, including a 22-10 overall record, 20-2 in the Northeast Corner Conference, with three conference titles in the last three seasons. Eastside won five sectional games in Eshbach’s tenure.

Prior to coaching at Eastside, Eshbach was an assistant coach at New Haven (2005), Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger (2002-03), DeKalb (1998-99), and Concordia Lutheran (1995-97). He was also the head coach at Paoli during the 2000 season.

In addition to his coaching duties Eshbach will serve as the new alternative school director for Wawasee Community Schools.

“Coach Eshbach brings many years of experience in running a successful program to Wawasee High School,” athletic director Cory Schutz said in a press release. “We look forward to watching him work to take Warrior football to the next level.”
