Friday’s Rainouts

Most Times-Union area high school sporting events were rained out Friday.

Manchester’s semifinal and championship matches in the girls tennis sectional at Peru have been moved to 10 a.m. today. While the Lady Squires have clinched a semifinal win, they must complete their match with Maconaquah and then play the winner between Peru and Southwood.

Triton’s Hoosier North Athletic Conference baseball game was moved from Friday to 5 p.m. Monday at Culver Community.

The entire HNAC softball tournament, including Friday’s game at Triton, was canceled and won’t be rescheduled due to sectional tournaments beginning next week.

Two other softball games, Tippecanoe Valley at Warsaw and Bremen at Wawasee, were canceled and won’t be made up.



Former Whitko Coach Bradley Takes Over At New Castle

NEW CASTLE – Former Whitko girls basketball coach Brandon Bradley was hired to the same position at New Castle High School Friday, Bradley confirmed via text message.

Bradley stepped away at Whitko about a month ago, citing a desire to be closer to his family in central Indiana.



LCA To Host Basketball Camps

WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian Academy will host basketball camps in two sessions from July 10-13 at the school, 1093 S. CR 250E, Winona Lake.

Students in kindergarten through third grade this fall will be from 9-11 a.m., and grades 4-8 will be from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. The cost is $50 and includes a T-shirt. Registrations are due by June 30.

Whitko Hosting Boys Hoops Camp

LARWILL – Whitko will host a basketball camp June 12-15 at the Whitko Middle School gym. The camp is for boys in grades 2-8 this fall. Campers will work on shooting fundamentals, dribbling, defensive skills and more.

The cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt, drinks and awards. Enrollment forms can be picked up at the front office of any Whitko building. Questions can be sent to John Strayer at [email protected] or 260-609-6883.



Valley Sports Ads On Sale

AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley High School Athletic Department is soliciting advertising for the 2017-18 athletic programs.

Cost is $125 for a family or business ad in next year’s sports programs. Call the TVHS Athletic Office at (574) 598-2103 for further details.

There are also opportunities to advertise on a scrolling ad sign in the gym. Interested parties should call the athletic department for information and pricing.



Warsaw Camp Registration Open

Registrations are being accepted for Warsaw football, track and soccer summer camps. All the camps are for students entering grades 4-8 this fall.

Soccer camp runs from 6-8:30 p.m. June 26-30 and costs $75. The football and track camps run from 5-6:30 p.m. July 10-13 and cost $25.

3-On-3 Tournament June 3

MENTONE – A 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held at Mentone Elementary School, with on-site registration beginning at 8 a.m, and games starting an hour later.

The double-elimination tournament is open to boys and girls, with divisions determined by a team’s oldest player. Girls may play on boys teams. Entry fee is $40.
