LOGANSPORT — Rosetta Stout, 78, Logansport, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 10:45 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at her residence.

Born Oct. 20, 1938, in Warsaw, she was the daughter of the late Rex and Pauline Borden Carey.

On May 24, 1963, she married Casper Stout, and he preceded her in death Oct. 26, 1993.

Rosetta was formerly employed at Federal Mogul in Leiters Ford, where she retired after 21 years.

She was a former member of House of the Living Stones Christian Church, Warsaw. Rosetta enjoyed music, gardening and family above all.

Survivors include her children: Richard Applegate,  Warsaw; Wayne Stout (Sue), Logansport; Todd Stout, Fort Wayne; and Ilah Applegate, Warsaw; brothers: Robert Clemans (Mary), Edwardsburg, Mich.; James Carey (Carolyn), Fort Wayne; and Forrest Vining (Betty), Warsaw; and sisters: Susan Fairbanks (Lester), Michigan; Patty Lester, Michigan; Virginia Schuh (John), Warsaw; Glenda Holbrook, Warsaw; Linda Creamer (Rick), Warsaw; and Sandy Vermilyer, Michigan. Rosetta is also survived by grandchildren: Joshua Applegate (Ms. Jessie Reed), Fort Wayne; Zachary Applegate (Emily), South Dakota; Sean Stout, Logansport; Cassie Stout, Logansport; and Sarah Stout, Fort Wayne. She also is survived by six great-grandchildren: Eva, Dylan, Celeste, Dawson, Mallory and Jonah.

She was preceded in death by sisters Katherine Carey, Julia Hudkins and Helen McKie; and brothers Cephas Denton, Rodney Carey and Rex Carey Jr.

A celebration of Rosetta’s life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday  at the Fireman’s Building at Pike Lake, 1013 E. Arthur St., Warsaw.

Arrangements were entrusted to Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel.
