County Jail Bookings

 The following people were preliminarily charged and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail.

• 4:47 a.m. Tuesday – Christopher Shayne Smith, 39, of 906 Pine Mills Road, Warsaw, arrested for failure to appear. No bond set. 

• 10:42 a.m. Tuesday – John Allen Slabaugh, 47, Bremen, arrested for failure to appear. Bond: $5,000.

• 11:19 a.m. Tuesday – Ryan Charles Dewitt, 36, of 9053 N. Old 15, Milford, arrested on two counts of failure to appear. Bond: $7,500. 

• 1:39 p.m. Tuesday – David Levon Nifong, 55, Plymouth, arrested for failure to stop after an accident. Bond: $600.

• 4:20 p.m. Tuesday – Tremal Curtis, 51, Chicago, Ill., arrested for failure to appear. No bond set.

• 9:13 p.m. Tuesday – Seth Aaron Carl Allen, 27, of 201 W. Section St., Claypool, arrested for driving while classified as a habitual traffic offender. Bond: $5,250. 

• 9:32 p.m. Tuesday – Brian Dashaun Adkins, 18, of 1409 Park Ave., Winona Lake, arrested for disorderly conduct. Bond: $300.



Personal Injury Accidents

• 1:12 p.m. Tuesday – Intersection of Buffalo and Center streets, Warsaw. School bus-SUV collision. Drivers: Margie Lord, 74, Kimmell; Lisa Wallen, 56, Wade Road, Warsaw. Injuries: Lord was taken to a hospital with pain to her chest; Wallen was taken to a hospital with pain to her head. Damage: $5,000 to 10,000. Warsaw Police Department investigated. 

• 5:36 p.m. Tuesday – Intersection of CRs 200N and 100E, Warsaw. Two-vehicle collison. Drivers: Lisa Sponseller, 52, CR 600W, Warsaw; Florell Hand,   52, Dellview Drive, Warsaw.  Injury: Sponseller had a minor burn on her arm but refused medical treatment. Damage: $5,000 to $10,000. Kosciusko County’s Sheriff’s Department investigated.



Property Damage Accidents

• 3:14 p.m Tuesday – Intersection of North Detroit Street and CR 250N, Warsaw. Two-vehicle collision. Drivers: Timothy Phelan, 37, Walkerton; Sarath Sundramoorthi, 38, Kuder Lane, Warsaw. Damage: $5,000 to $10,000. WPD. 

• 5:36 p.m. Tuesday – Intersection of East Winona Avenue and East Smith Street, Warsaw. Two-vehicle collision. Drivers: Tyler Evans, 18, CR 125N, Etna Green; Jordan Greenberg, 21, Heather Court, Warsaw. Damage: $10,000 to $25,000. WPD.



Incident

• 8:11 a.m. Tuesday – A person reported a theft of a purse and money from a vehicle in the 3400 block of North Detroit Street, Warsaw. WPD.

Sheriff Addressed Issues In The Jail Since Taking Office
Once taking office I knew how important it was going to be to have the right leadership in every division of the office, and the jail was certainly no exception. Upon taking office, I appointed Lt. Kevin Gelbaugh as the jail commander and Chad Marsh as the assistant jail commander, and to say I am proud of all their work and accomplishments would be an understatement.
