WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian Academy appointed Joseph Elrod as its new administrator, according to a news release from the school.

He will assume responsibilities July 1, and will succeed Joy Lavender, who will be retiring after 12 years in the position after this school year.

“I’m excited to join the LCA community and look forward to the many opportunities that lie ahead,” said Elrod. “God has moved in His unique and judicious way to bring me and my family to this wonderful place in our journey – it’s humbling and renewing to see how He works.”

Elrod has been involved in Christian education nearly his entire life, the release states. Most recently, he served as the secondary principal at Elkhart Christian Academy where he managed the day-to-day operations of the secondary school and a staff of approximately 25 teachers.

He also serves as a part-time professor at Grace College.

He has spent over 10 years in the classroom teaching history, economics and government for seventh through 12th grade. He holds an Indiana professional educator’s license in a variety of subjects for middle school and high school, along with an ACSI educator’s certificate.

Elrod earned his bachelor’s degree in history with a speech minor from Bob Jones University and his Masters of Biblical Studies from Baptist Bible College in Pennsylvania.

Joe and his wife, Emily, have four young children and will be relocating to the Warsaw area over the summer.
