A Warsaw man is facing battery charges after police allege he hit his wife who was 15 weeks pregnant, according to new details released by police.

Chase Burnau, 23, of 303 N. Columbia St., #A, is facing a felony charge of battery causing bodily injury to a pregnant woman and a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.

Police say Burnau got in an argument with his wife Monday. She told police Burnau grabbed her by the hair and hit her in the back between her shoulder blades. He then allegedly grabbed her wrist and attempted to use her hands to hit himself in the face, according to court documents.

The woman tried to call police but Burnau allegedly took the cell phone and threw it against the wall.

The woman was able to get to a neighbor’s house and call police.

Burnau was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail on Monday.

He is being held on a $11,000 bond.
