County Jail Bookings

 The following people were preliminarily charged and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail.

• 5:11 p.m. Wednesday – Daniel Ray Smith, 30, of 1022 E. Market St., Warsaw, arrested for strangulation. Bond: $6,000.

• 12:59 a.m. today – Zachery Scott Eyer, 30, of 597 S. Old Ind. 13, Pierceton, arrested for disorderly conduct – fight and resisting law enforcement. Bond $700.

• 3:29 a.m. today – Adam Michael Karr, 20, of 27 EMS B59 Lane, Warsaw, arrested on three counts of failure to appear. Bond: $1,346.



Personal Injury Accident

• 4:26 p.m. Wednesday – Intersection of West Crystal Lake Road and CR 400W, Warsaw.  Single-car rollover. Driver: Craig Hurley, 23, Wood Duck Drive, Mentone. Injury: Hurly had minor bleeding to his face. Damage: $10,000 to $25,000. Kosciusko?County Sheriff’s Department investigated.



Property Damage Accidents

• 3:46 p.m. Tuesday – Intersection of Anchorage Road and North Sunset Drive, Warsaw. Two-vehicle collision. Drivers: Beth Davis, 38, Rattington Circle, Warsaw; Lisa Mellott, 48, West North Street, Syracuse. Damage: $2,500 to $5,000. Warsaw Police Department investigated.

• 5:03 p.m. Tuesday – Intersection of CR 300N and Sheldon Street, Warsaw. Two-vehicle collision. Drivers: Andrew Stutzman, 18, Shipshewana; April Grossman, 39, Ind. 19, Akron. Damage: $2,500 to $5,000. WPD.

• 7:32 p.m. Tuesday – Intersection of East Market and South Scott streets, Warsaw. Two-vehicle collision. Drivers: Steven Caris, 30, Ind. 15, Warsaw; Adam Anders, 41, CR 275E, Warsaw.  Damage: $5,000 to $10,000. WPD.

• 9:08 a.m. Wednesday – 7344 Ind. 15, Claypool. Two-vehicle collision. Drivers: John Mattern, 65, Wabash; John Sipe, 65, Monroe. Damage: $2,500 to $5,000. KCSD.

• 10:14 p.m. Wednesday – Intersection of East Center and South Cleveland streets, Warsaw. Two-vehicle collision. Drivers: Lindsay Smith, 19, Lake Sharon Road, Warsaw; Rodolfo Martinez-Velaaquez, 20, East Clark Street, Warsaw. Damage: $2,500 to $5,000. WPD.

• 1:08 a.m. today – Intersection of South Hand and West Winona avenues, Warsaw. Truck hit railroad viaduct. Driver: Devin Doty, 21, CR 500W, Mentone. Damage: $1,000 to $2,500. WPD.

• 8:03 a.m. Tuesday – A person reported a theft in the 7200 block of East Eli Lilly Road,?Syracuse. KCSD.

• 10:46 a.m. Tuesday – Police responded to a report of a rape in the 1700 block of Tippecanoe Drive, Warsaw. WPD.

• 10:49 a.m. Tuesday – Police investigated a hit-skip in the 100 block of North Lake Street, Warsaw. WPD.

• 2:42 p.m. Tuesday – A person reported a theft in the 2800 block of East Armstrong Road,?Leesburg. KCSD.

• 10:05 a.m Wednesday – A fraud was reported in the 200 block of West Main Street, Warsaw. KCSD.

• 1:27 p.m. Wednesday – A person reported a violation of a protective order in the 100 block of EMS B58 Lane, Warsaw. KCSD.

• 4:30 p.m. Wednesday – A credit card was turned in to police in the 2100 block of East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. WPD. 

• 1:40 a.m. today – A break-in was reported at Service Liquors East in the 3700 block of Lake City Highway, Warsaw. WPD.

Sheriff Addressed Issues In The Jail Since Taking Office
Once taking office I knew how important it was going to be to have the right leadership in every division of the office, and the jail was certainly no exception. Upon taking office, I appointed Lt. Kevin Gelbaugh as the jail commander and Chad Marsh as the assistant jail commander, and to say I am proud of all their work and accomplishments would be an understatement.

Pierceton Budget Approved, Trick-Or-Treat Night Set
PIERCETON — The town of Pierceton's 2025 budget was adopted Monday evening by the council, following no additional comments. The budget totals $1,588,620, with an adopted tax levy of $329,605 and a tax rate of $0.6263.
