Three-Set Matches Key In Lady Tiger Tennis Victory

CULVER – Warsaw used a pair of three-set wins and two other dominant matches to beat host Culver Academies 4-1 in a non-conference girls tennis match Wednesday.

After dropping the first set of her match 6-4, Alyssa Zellers came roaring back to win at No. 3 doubles with a pair of 6-0 sets. At No. 1 doubles, Collette Smith and Athena Schlitt came back from a set down to win 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

Liza Lewis and Ella Knight each won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.

The Lady Tiger junior varsity won four of five matches. Winners were Libby Jenkins, Izzy Ray and Raegan Merchant in singles, and the doubles team of Sophie Schlitt and Maddie Ray.

The JV team will host a tournament on Saturday, and the varsity wraps up its regular season with a Northern Lakes Conference match at Goshen on Monday.
