Manchester Claims Boys, Girls County Track Titles

NORTH MANCHESTER – Rae Bedke set a new Wabash County Meet record in the girls 3,200-meter run, and Manchester won both the boys and girls county titles Tuesday night.

The Squire boys finished with 88 points to beat Wabash’s 64 points. The Lady Squires also had 88 points to outdistance second-place Southwood by 21.

Bedke’s time of 11:12.83 broke the old record of 11:49.77 set two years ago, and was two minutes better than Bedke’s nearest competitor Tuesday. The Lady Squire senior also won the 1,600.

Bailey Sewell was a double-winner for the Lady Squires, taking the discus and shot put. Other winners for the Lady Squires were Tahnee Fuentes in the 100, Gabby Brewer in the long jump, and the 4x800 relay team of Bedke, Sydney Diefenbaugh, Maddy Evans and Jaelyn Webb.

Isaiah Davis won twice for the Squires, taking the high jump and long jump. Heath Dierks won the discus, Lance Bennett the 800 and Remington Trick the 400 for Manchester. The Squire 4x800 relay team of Montgomery Pattison, Bennett, Ethan Davis and Wilson Nettleton won as well.

Next up for Manchester is the Three Rivers Conference Meet at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion on Tuesday.



Lady Squires Rock Caston

FULTON – Senior Ellie Milam homered twice, doubled and drove in seven runs, and Manchester scored in all five innings in its 24-3 non-conference softball win at Caston Tuesday.

Kiera Stacy had three hits, scored five times and drove in three runs, and Sydney Day had three RBIs. Mattie McKee struck out nine and walked one in five innings of work, and was the winning pitcher.

The Lady Squires will travel to South Whitley to take on Whitko today.



Norse Edge Squires, Beats Whitko In TRC Golf

NORTH MANCHESTER – Northfield picked up two Three Rivers Conference boys golf wins with a team score of 178, edging Manchester by a shot and beating Whitko’s 197 at Sycamore Golf Club Tuesday.

Manchester was led by Harley Kruschwitz, who was the medalist with a 40. Parker Wagoner had a 44, Nathan Self a 45, Konrad Borgmann a 50 and Klayton Hendrix a 59 for the Squires.

Tim Gensch paced the Wildcats with a 44, followed by Cade Bechtold’s 47, Kaleb Busz with a 50 and Cole Cmar with a 56.

Manchester will host Huntington North at Sycamore on Thursday. Whitko will play in the Northfield Invitational on Saturday.



Lady Tigers Cap Unbeaten Regular Season With Win


PLYMOUTH – Warsaw wrapped up an undefeated girls track season with a 72-60 win at Plymouth in Northern Lakes Conference competition Tuesday. The victory extended the Lady Tiger NLC win streak to 60 meets.

Dayton Groninger won the 800, Anna Craig the 1,600 and Mia Beckham the 3,200 for the Lady Tigers. Alexie Day won the high jump and Caitlin Kehler the pole vault for Warsaw.

The 4x100 relay team of Shunterra Davis, Maygen Bellamy, Abbi Curtis and Makayla Clampitt won in 51.09 seconds. The 4x800 relay team also won.

Next up for the Lady Tigers is hosting the Northern Lakes Conference Meet on Tuesday.



Memorial Beats Tigers

After four scoreless innings, Elkhart Memorial put up three runs in the fifth inning, and four in both the sixth and seventh frames to beat Warsaw 11-0 in Northern Lakes Conference baseball Tuesday.

Warsaw was held to four hits in the game. Jordan Jones pitched five innings for the Tigers and took the loss.

In the junior varsity game, Aric Krallman hit a pair of home runs and drove in four in Warsaw’s 14-3 win over Memorial. Ian Glogovsky had three hits and drove in a pair of runs, with Gage Lyon and Noah Burgh adding two hits and two RBIs each. Matt Shoemaker was the winning pitcher.

Warsaw (5-10, 2-5 NLC) will host Wawasee today.

Triton Wraps Up HNAC Tennis Title With Win

KNOX – Senior Quinn Downing won at No. 2 singles to tie Triton’s girls tennis match with Knox, then Kolbie Mason won a tough match at No. 1 singles to give the Lady Trojans a 3-2 victory and the Hooiser North Athletic Conference regular season title Tuesday.

Mason won a first-set tiebreaker then took the second set 7-5 over Knox’s Hannah Lueth. Downing had a much easier time, winning 6-1, 6-1 over Shelby Faverty.

Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross continued their stellar season at No. 1 doubles, dropping just one game in their win over Sommer Shepherd and Maria Hasnerl.

Triton is scheduled to host Marshall County rival Bremen on Thursday.

Triton Stops Comets 11-4

BOURBON – Dylan Hensley homered, singled twice, scored four runs and drove in six runs in Triton’s 11-4 Hoosier North Athletic Conference baseball win over visiting Caston Tuesday.

Nate Flenar doubled twice, singled and scored four times for the Trojans. Zac Pitney doubled, and Ty Ferry had a single and scored twice.

Pitney got the win on the mound, striking out nine and not allowing an earned run in 5-1/3 innings pitched.

Triton will host Winamac on Thursday.



Valley Girls, Zebra Boys Win In Triangular With Triton

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley’s girls track team beat Rochester and Triton Tuesday, while the Zebra boys claimed wins over Valley and the Trojans. The Lady Vikings’ 61 points edged Rochester by two and bested Triton’s 46. Rochester’s boys team had 66 points to Valley’s 56 and Triton’s 35.

Sarah Tucker was a double-winner for the Lady Vikings, taking the 100 and 200. Valley’s 4x800 relay and 4x400 relay teams also won.

Abigail Powell won twice for the Lady Trojans, taking both the 100 and 300 hurdles. Baylee McIntyre won the 400, and Triton’s Mariah Musilli and Briana Wilhite tied for first in the long jump. Triton also won the 4x100 relay.

Dakota Parker won the 100 and 400 for the Valley boys. Will Hassenplug won the shot put and Jameson Baker the discus for the Vikings, who also won the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Triton’s Malachi Greene won the long jump and Marcus Brown the 200.

Next up for Valley is a non-conference meet at Culver Community on Thursday. Triton will host Lakeland  Christian and LaVille on Thursday.



Lady ‘Cats Run-Rule Northfield In TRC Play

SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko scored  four runs in the third inning and five more in the fourth in an 11-0, five-inning Three Rivers Conference softball win over visiting Northfield Tuesday.

Ellie Snep struck out eight Lady Norse batters in her four innings in the circle. She added a triple and a pair of singles at the plate. Reannon Hopkins doubled and singles, and Anna Ousley doubled for Whitko.

The Lady Wildcats will host Manchester in a TRC game today.



Wawasee Falls To Memorial, Northridge

ELKHART – Wawasee lost a pair of  Northern Lakes Conference girls track meets Tuesday, falling to Elkhart Memorial 91.5-35.5 and Northridge 86-46. Memorial downs Northridge 75-59.

Hannah-Marie Lamle won the long jump and finished second in the 100 hurdles. Alexis Mangas won the discus and Jada Parzygnot won the pole vault.

The Lady Warriors will compete in the Goshen Relays on Saturday to wrap up its regular season, then compete in the NLC Meet at Warsaw on Tuesday.



Memorial Tennis Shuts Out Lady Warriors

ELKHART – Wawasee’s girls tennis team fell 5-0 at Elkhart Memorial in Northern Lakes Conference play Tuesday.

Now 7-9 overall and 2-3 in the NLC, Wawasee is scheduled to play at NorthWood on Thursday.



Two Events Postponed

SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko’s baseball game Tuesday at Southern Wells was postponed to Saturday due to wet grounds. The two teams will now play a doubleheader to help make up for  games lost to the weather.

Manchester’s girls tennis match against visiting Three Rivers Conference foe Whitko was moved to May 9.
