Mary D. Ettinger, 88, Warsaw, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. 
She was born on Oct. 22, 1928, to Wilby Bruce and Margaret Nell Floyd Nichols in Beaver Township, Pulaski County. 
She graduated from Pulaski High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Manchester College and a Master of Science from St. Francis College. 
She was a past president of Zerelda Reading Club and Kosciusko County Historical Society. She was a board and charter member of the Kosciusko County Historical Society and a member of the IRTA, Lakeland Community Concerts, First United Methodist Church, Senior Saints, United Methodist Women, Bible school director, Stephen Ministries and AAUW, and was a past DAR regent. She also volunteered for KCH mobile meals, Genealogy Library, CASA and Warsaw Community Public Library. Mary also was an author of several genealogy books. In 2013 she was named Warsaw Woman of the Year. 
Mary retired as an art instructor after 29 years in Warsaw Community Schools. She enjoyed family, volunteering, traveling, bridge and cross stitching.
Mary is survived by her four children: Martha Jane (spouse David) Tibbets, Elkhart; Betty Jo Thompson, Mentone; Nancy Ann (Brian) Tonks, Rigby, Idaho; and John William (spouse Debbie) Ettinger, Warsaw; 12 grandchildren: Steven (spouse Julie) Tibbets, Julia Tibbets, Laura Tibbets, Kyle (spouse Kari) Thompson, Cale (spouse Beth) Thompson, Paul (spouse Kellie) Tonks, Nathan (spouse Emily) Tonks, Joseph Tonks, Lydia (spouse Tyler) Whitworth, Dylan Ettinger, Miranda Ettinger and Marcella Ettinger; and 15 great-grandchildren: Timothy Schlosser; Connor Tonks; Ian, Isaac, Mercedes, Makenzie, Rylee, Madison and Carter Thompson; Addison, Clark, Kaylee and Emma Whitworth; and Zachary and Vera Rose Tibbets. 
She was preceded by her parents; three sisters; a brother; and a son-in-law, Duane Thompson, on April 26, 2017.
Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 4, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 4, at the funeral chapel, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating.
