Tiger Golfers Finish Third At Wawasee Invitational
SYRACUSE – Warsaw finished third in the Wawasee Invitational boys golf tournament at South Shore Golf Club Saturday. The Tigers finished at 316, eight shots behind champion Plymouth and two shots behind runner-up Homestead.
Other local teams were Manchester, 10th with 349; Wawasee, 11th at 371; and Whitko, 15th with 418.
The Tigers were paced by Sam Yeager’s 76, good for a tie for third overall. Luke Delp carded a 78, Tommy Meier had an 80 and Tim Rata had an 82. Michael Jensen withdrew from the tournament.
NorthWood’s Sean Hogan was the medalist with a one-over par 73 in cold, rainy conditions. Manchester’s Harley Kruschwitz was tied for third overall at 76.
Wawasee was led by Zach Leedy at 82, and Whitko was paced by senior Tim Gensch’s 96.
Warsaw hosts and Wawasee will play in the Joe Harris Shootout at Rozella Ford Tuesday. Manchester will host Northfield and Whitko at Sycamore Golf Club Tuesday.

Valley 8th At Rochester Golf Tournament
ROCHESTER – Tippecanoe Valley’s Jeremy Julian tied for second overall with an 81, leading the Vikings to an eighth-place finish in the Rochester Invitational Saturday at Mill Creek/Round Barn Golf Course.
Julian and Winamac’s Calvin Larkin were one shot behind Rochester’s Killian Bailey for medalist honors.
Cade Brouyette turned in a 97 for Valley, with John Young carding a 99. Chris Schipper had a 103 and Noah Hoffman 104 for the Vikings.
Valley will take on Wawasee at South Shore in Syracuse on Wednesday.

Trojan Golf Wins Marshall County Tournament
CULVER – Isaac Wall was the medalist, shooting an 83 for Triton and leading the Trojans to the Marshall County boys golf tournament title at Mystic Hills Saturday.
Beau Hepler and Ross Johnson each shot a 93 for the Trojans. Braden Kreft posted a 94 and Chase Butler checked in with a 103.
The title was the third for the Trojans this season, to go with the Whitko Invitational and the tournament they hosted. They will go for a fourth title Saturday at the LaVille Invitational at Sprig O’ Mint Golf Club near Bremen.
Triton 6th At Concord Invite
ELKHART – Triton’s Kolbie Mason finished third at No. 1 singles, as did Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross at No. 1 doubles, leading the Lady Trojans to a sixth-place finish at the Concord Invitational Saturday.
The tournament was played at Elkhart Central due to construction on the Concord campus. Triton played without three seniors, who went with classmates to Washington, D.C.
Mason won matches against opponents from LaVille and Jimtown, and lost to Concord. Wanemacher and Ross won over Lakeland and Mishawaka Marian, but lost to Concord.
The Lady Trojans return to Hoosier North Athletic Conference play Tuesday with a trip to Knox.
Lady Trojans Fall Late
BOURBON – Triton’s softball team held a 7-1 lead over NorthWood after three innings, but fell to the Lady Panthers 8-7 in eight innings Saturday.
NorthWood scored twice in the sixth inning, four times in the seventh inning to tie the game, then won it with a single run in the top of the eighth.
The Lady Trojans will travel to Royal Center for a Hoosier North Athletic Conference game at Pioneer today.
Valley Falls To Glenn
AKRON – The John Glenn Falcons scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to edge Tippecanoe Valley 4-2 in a non-conference baseball game Saturday.
Adam Myers and Wes Melanson doubled in the game for the Vikings. Tanner Trippeidi pitched into the seventh inning and took the loss.
Valley (5-6) is scheduled to host Southwood today in Three Rivers Conference play.
Concordia Downs Valley
AKRON – Abby Betten homered for Tippecanoe Valley in its 13-7 loss to Fort Wayne Concordia in the Valley Invitational softball tournament Saturday.
The rest of the tournament was rained out.
Valley (5-10) hosts Southwood in a Three Rivers Conference contest today.
Lady Knights Rout Wawasee
KENDALLVILLE – East Noble had home runs from Grace Erwin and Dani Jaquay on its way to a 14-4, five-inning rout of Wawasee in a non-conference girls softball game Saturday.
Riley Kunkle, Kayla White, Beth Flanney and Ale Brito each had RBI singles for Wawasee.
The Lady Warriors (13-3) resume Northern Lakes Conference play with a game at Concord today.
Weather Stops High School Sporting Events
Rainy, windy and cold conditions Saturday caused several Times-Union area athletic events to not be contested.
For Warsaw, a softball game at Huntington North; the girls tennis tournament at Delta and a girls track meet in Kokomo were cancelled and will not be made up.
Tippecanoe Valley and Whitko were to play in the Wabash Invitational tennis tournament. The tourney was cancelled and won’t be rescheduled.
Triton’s baseball doubleheader at North Judson was postponed. Since it’s a Hoosier North Athletic Conference competition, it will be rescheduled.
Manchester’s girls tennis team was to play in the Homestead Invitational, but it was cancelled and will not be rescheduled.
Wawasee was to compete in the John Reed Relays at East Noble, but that meet was cancelled on Friday. It won’t be rescheduled.
