American Association Of University Women
The Warsaw Affiliate of the American Association of University Women met at the Beaman Home on March 18, with Pam Chastain, president, presiding. The hostesses for the meeting provided refreshments for the group and they were enjoyed during roll call.
Tracie Hodson, executive director of the Beaman Home, distributed folders containing information and gave a brief overview of the purpose of the home. The new facility has provided many opportunities for offering counseling and educational services to families that must use the services due to their circumstances. A goal for Beaman Home staff is to stop generational abuse. Donations of personal care items and paper products are welcome anytime and can be dropped off at the store on Winona Avenue. Volunteers are also needed to take clients to doctor and other appointments.
After a tour of the facility, the membership voted to move funds to Kosciusko County Community Foundation for the AAUW scholarship. Another vote provided funds to the AAUW tax accountant’s charity of choice for assisting the group with its taxes.
A nominating committee of Doris Cook and Stephanie Ducheteau was selected for the 2017-18 year.
