Old Jail Museum Open For The Season

March 23, 2017 at 5:25 p.m.

By Staff Report-

The Old Jail Museum, 121 N. Indiana St., Warsaw, is open for the 2017 season.
During January and February, the museum staff was busy cleaning, preparing new displays, and planning programs and activities.
It is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The museum also is in need of volunteers to help with its many projects.
One of its main projects this year is the scanning of its obituary collection, which will be added to the Indiana State Historical Society's collection. This is a long-term project and the museum is looking for people who would like to help. The hours are flexible.
Although it's a simple procedure to scan an obituary and record it, many hands are needed to complete the task, according to a news release from the museum.
The museum also is in need of tour guides for three hours on Saturdays, and to help with school tours and bus tours from other states on an as-needed basis. No experience is needed. The museum staff will train on the old jail's history and displays.
Call the Old Jail Museum and Research Library at 574-269-1078 for more information or email [email protected].
