Mangas Signs With Indiana Wesleyan

By Roger Grossman-

Kyle Mangas has secured his place in the history of Warsaw Tiger basketball, and now he is ready to take the next step.
The 6-foot-3 Mangas signed his letter of intent Monday to play basketball next fall at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.
Mangas finished his prep career fourth on Warsaw’s all-time scoring list with 1,450 points, trailing only former Mr. Basketball recipients Kevin Ault (2,028) and Jeff Grose (1,749) and Indiana All-Star Nic Moore (1,891).
His 633 points as a senior ranks him fifth all-time for points in a single season for the Tigers, and he finished with two of the top 15 scoring seasons ever at WCHS.
Mangas scored over 20 points in 16 of his last 19 games. His 47-point performance in the Michigan City Regional semifinal is the most by any Tiger in postseason history and will go down as one of the most memorable individual games ever. He finished with 24 in the regional final, giving him 71 for the day.
Mangas scored in double-figures 67 times in his four years of varsity ball (he joined the varsity in January of his freshman year). That includes 52 games with over 10 points in his last 54 outings. He was the leading scorer in 59 of 68 games since the start of his sophomore season.
In addition, Mangas led the Tigers to back-to-back sectional championships for the first time since 1996 and 1997 and helped Doug Ogle’s program procure an unprecedented three consecutive undefeated Northern Lakes Conference seasons. He was named All-NLC three times and was an Indiana Junior All-Star last summer.
Mangas is also a star in the classroom, where he has a 12.4 GPA (12.0 scale) and was recently named Academic All-State.
Mangas has participated in Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy, Business Professionals of America, National Honor Society and has volunteered at the Baker Youth Club, the City-County Athletic Complex and in youth basketball.
At Indiana Wesleyan, he will play for Greg Tonagel and the Wildcats, who won the NAIA Division II national championships in 2014 and 2016 and lost in the semifinals this season.
Mangas, the son of Tim and Ann Mangas, plans to study finance at Indiana Wesleyan.
