Relay For Life is about a community coming together for a greater cause. Nearly 3.5 million people come together to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remembering loved ones lost, and empowering individuals and communities to fight back.
Many people hear the word "Relay" and think race. Relay is a race in every sense of the word, but it's a race to give cancer patients one more day. One more day with their loved ones, one more day to hear those words "You are cancer-free," one more day for a doctor to come in and say "We have found a cure."
You do not have to be a runner to participate. Relay is a gathering where teams of people take turns walking around a track or path.
Relay brings individuals together from all walks of life to raise not only funds but much-needed awareness. This year our community will come together for the Relay For Life of Kosciusko County to give cancer patients one more day. This year the Relay For Life of Kosciusko County will take place at Quaker Haven Camp, 111EMS D16, Syracuse, on May 13 from noon to midnight.
Cancer never sleeps and neither do we. We will be relaying to show our support for those fighting for one more day.
The motto that Relay embodies is “Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back.” We celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer; their strength inspires others to continue their fight. We remember the loved ones who lost their battle and Relay in their honor.
We fight back! We fight for one more day. We fight to make cancer a word that is no longer in use.
If you are a cancer survivor, we would love to have you join us to be honored at this event. For information or to register, you can sign up at www.relayforlife.org/kosciuskocountyin or contact Wendy Mang, community manager, Relay For Life, 574-257-9789, ext. 1864

Understanding Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) And Using Them
Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are for people over the age of 70.5 years old. Unlike other distributions, which are taxed at ordinary income tax rates, Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) allow for a tax-free distribution from an IRA, provided that the distribution goes directly to a qualified charity.
