Triton Advances To 1A Sectional Final With 58-40 Win

Triton wasn’t sluggish at all. The Trojans opened the game by outscoring Culver Community 16-6 in the first quarter, and went on to roll over the Cavaliers 58-40 in the 1A sectional semifinals at the Trojan Trench Friday night.
Senior Grant Johnson led the way for the Trojans, hitting 7 of 11 shots from the field and all seven of his free throws for a game-high 21 points. Zac Pitney hit 7-of-8 free throws and scored nine points for Triton.
Triton enjoyed a 22-7 advantage from the free throw line. Three Culver Community players fouled out of the game.
Josh Krsek scored 11 points to lead the Cavaliers, who finished with a 12-11 record for the season.
Triton will take on No. 10 Oregon-Davis (19-6) in the sectional title game at 7 p.m. today. The Bobcats advanced with a 63-55 win over Argos in the nightcap Friday.
Triton and Oregon-Davis opened the season against each other in Hamlet, with the Bobcats coming out on top 58-42 on Nov. 23. Since its 0-3 start to the season Triton is 18-2, with losses to Warsaw and Bremen. The HNAC champion Trojans have won 10 straight games.
