Theft Charge Filed In Case Of Lost Wallet

Justin Peters, 24, of 104 N. Main St., South Whitley, is charged with one count of felony theft.
On Feb. 24, a Warsaw police officer spoke with the victim, who said he left his wallet on the back of his truck and drove off, court records state.
The officer reviewed the footage for the store’s cameras and saw Peters pick up the wallet, go to the bathroom, remove the money and throw the wallet in the trash, police say.
Another Warsaw detective went to Peters’ home to question him about the theft.
Peters admitted to taking the wallet and handed the officer the money.
He is out on bond, awaiting further proceedings.
