Dr. Goksel

I found out I had breast cancer the first time at age 40. I had a radical mastectomy and chemotherapy.

When I turned 45, the cancer came back. This meant more surgery and radiation this time around. It was an extremely hard process to go through. Two years ago, I found out it was back for the third time.  This time it was in my liver and bones. My family and I were devastated.

Throughout 15 years, I have had many oncologists but none have come close to the care I get from the one I have now. Dr. Goksel, at the Warsaw Cancer Center, is by far the most caring and supporting oncologist I have ever had. He has always made me feel like everything was going to be OK and that we were fighting this cancer together. There have been many times that he has seen me out in public and treats me like I am family, always asking how I am feeling.

I recently found out that Dr. Goksel will be leaving KCH and here I am – devastated again. I am terrified. I feel like a part of my strength is leaving with him. I don’t know all the details of the situation, but what I don’t understand is why KCH wouldn't do everything in their power to keep such a great doctor and major asset to the KCH team.
