Warsaw Chapter 88, Order Of The Eastern Star

The Warsaw Chapter 88, Order of the Eastern Star, officially installed officers for the 2017-18 year on June 15.

Officers for the  year are Mary Beth Alvey, PM, worthy matron; Jerry Hartman, PP, worthy patron; Sonda Schapson, PGM, associate matron; Butch Schapson, associate patron; Cheryl Brunjes, PM, secretary; Sheal Dirck, PP, treasurer; Marilyn Thiess, PM, conductress; Linda Greene, PM, associate conductress; Nancy Dirck, chaplain; Judy Hartman, PM, organist; Sandy Hartz, marshal; Mary Jane Schmitt, PM, Adah; Joyce Kreger, PM, Ruth; Tabatha Beer, Esther; Lori Roe, Martha; Laura Bixel, electa; Madaline Gregory, PM, warder; and Ed Alvey, sentinel.

The Warsaw chapter meets the first Tuesday of every month. Anyone who is interested may contact any officer.



Agnes Pruyn Chapman Chapter, Daughters Of The American Revolution

The Daughters of the American Revolution is helping with preparations for the United States’ 250th birthday celebration in 2026.

Lynn Forney Young, DAR honorary president general, has been appointed to a national commission to plan celebrations surrounding the semiquincentennial. Eight members of Congress, 16 private citizens and nine federal officials will serve on the committee.

“On behalf of the 185,000 members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, we are honored to have a DAR representative serve on this important commission,” said Agnes Pruyn Chapman chapter regent Kathy Gawthrop.

Membership in the DAR is open to any woman 18 or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. Local DAR members can help prospective members research their family history.

Wednesday Night Bridge Group

On June 21, the group again had a season high of eight tables.

Winners were Mary Prescott, John Wagley, John Stewart, Judy Stewart, Tom Anderson, Nanette Newland, Lila O'Connell, Rosalee Spear and Joan Earhart.  

Janet and John Wagley are hostess and host for June.



North Webster Community Center SPEC

Winners for bridge this week in the Senior Prime Enrichment Center room were:

On June 20, Mary Kay Roby was first and Nancy Bailey was second.

On June 22, Dick Sutton was first and Barb Kieper was second.



Wednesday Afternoon Ladies Bridge

The group gathered June 14 at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club.

Winners were Andy Overmyer and Sandi Titsworth.



Four Seasons Ladies Bridge

The group met June 21 at the Great Wall.

Winners were Peg Zimmerman, Judy Stewart and Sondra Dicken.

Nanette Newland was hostess for June. Beth Huffer will be hostess for July.
