A second teen died Monday from injuries suffered in a four-vehicle collision east of Warsaw that also injured two others.

The accident happened in the eastbound lane of U.S. 30 Monday morning and spilled over into the westbound lanes.

Traffic was temporarily shut down in both directions as officials worked the accident.

Ashley Demont, 17, Argos, was one of two teens in the accident. She was flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, where she died Monday evening from blunt force trauma injuries.

Kirsten Kalene Ganshorn, 17, Walkerton, died at the scene shortly after the 9:30 a.m. accident.

Police say the chain-reaction accident began when a car driven by Ganshorn and headed east “clipped” a pickup and spun out of control, colliding with another vehicle.

Police say Ganshorn was trying to pass a pickup driven by Ronald Deck, 68, Warsaw.

Ganshorn was ejected from her car and was declared dead at the scene, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

Both girls were wearing seat belts, according to a  crash report from the county police. Kosciusko County Coroner Tony Ciriello said both girls died from multiple blunt force injuries.

After Ganshorn’s vehicle clipped Deck’s pickup, both vehicles crossed into the median. Deck was able to steer his vehicle back on the roadway, but Ganshorn’s car spun out of control and entered the westbound lane where it struck a Chevy?flatbed truck driven by John Wise, 49, Larwill.

Wise was flown to Lutheran Hospital and was listed in fair condition this morning.

The impact sent Wise’s truck into a 2013 Ford Escape driven by Barbara Slater, 83, Claypool. The flatbed and Slater’s SUV ended up in the embankment.

Another car, driven by  Tiffany Lyon, 42, Warsaw, was hit by debris from the accident. She was uninjured.

Deck and Slater were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, to be medically cleared, with Slater having slight bruising.

The crash is still under investigation.

Warsaw/Wayne Fire Territory, Lutheran EMS, Parkview EMS, Winona Lake Police, Pierceton Police, Indiana State Police, Indiana conservation officers and Warsaw Police assisted at the scene.
