She was born in Claypool on July 11, 1931, and graduated from Silver Lake High School. She married Billy Lee Summe and they started their family in Silver Lake. They relocated to Mount Dora in central Florida in 1970.
She was retired from a long career with the Lake County school system and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora where, until recently, she was active in the vocal and handbell choirs and the United Methodist Women.
Marilyn fought a long battle with Crohn's disease but never lost her kindness and grace to all those around her.
She is survived by many cherished friends and by her devoted family, including her sons, Jon Edwin Summe and James Lee Summe; her brothers, Louis Fruit and James Fruitt; her granddaughters, Nancy Sherrod and Jamie Henson; her grandsons, William Summe and Daniel Summe; and her five great-grandchildren.
All these and more — the multitude who loved her and are ever grateful for her —release her now into the care of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, where she joins her beloved husband, Bill, and her first-born son, Mark Douglas, in the joy of everlasting life.
