Warsaw Man Arrested For Theft At Laundromats, Car Washes

Preliminary charges of felony theft and criminal mischief have been filed against Mychal David Loper, 27, Warsaw, a news release said.
Investigators allege Loper vandalized and robbed at least five laundromat and car wash coin machines in the past month.
Officers from Milford were first contacted May 30 in regard to damage and theft from a coin machine at the Hometown Laundry in Milford.
County detectives also responded to the scene and viewed video surveillance footage of a man breaking into numerous machines and stealing money.
Detectives were able to determine Loper was a possible suspect in the Milford incident and then discovered he was in the county jail on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant.
During an interview with detectives, Loper admitted to his involvement with the Milford theft along with four thefts in the Warsaw area from coin operated machines at laundromats and car washes.
Loper also told officers he had stolen a pair of bolt cutters from the Nappanee Ace Hardware with the intent to steal money from the coin machines at a laundry mat, the release said.
Detectives investigating the possibility that Loper might have been involved in other similar crimes.
