Mary Lou Hudson Goans, 72, Claypool, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017. 
 

Mary Lou was a graduate of Portland High School and received her cosmetology license and then became a master cosmetologist and beauty culturist and had her own beauty salon for many years. She went to Indiana University South Bend and got an associate degree in accounting. She worked at United Technologies Automotive. She also attended Ivy Tech in Warsaw, where she earned certificates in statistical process control and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. She ended her working career as a cost analysis accountant at Lear Corp. 
On Aug. 11, 1995, she married Greg Goans. He survives

She loved traveling and going on adventures with her friends. She enjoyed genealogy, painting, sewing, crocheting and being with family. 

Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Greg, Claypool; children, Gary D. (Penny) Loy, Milford, and Brian (Nikki) Loy, Claypool; grandchildren: Leigh Anne (David) Ernst, Michael (Jessica) Loy, Mekayla Loy, Whitney Sleeth, Gustavo Rodriguez, Taylor Sleeth, Allison Loy and Laci Loy; great-grandchildren: Santiago Rodriguez, Ilyza Loy, Kathryn Ernst and Joseph Ernst; brother, Ellis Fay Jr. (Sue) Hudson; sisters, Linda (Hudson) Barger and Rebecca “Becky” Hudson (David) Rains, both of Portland; and her special friends, aptly named her “co-adventurers,” Linda Kirkpatrick and Janet Beals McPheeters. 

She was preceded in death by her sister, Alta Rosalee Hudson. 

Family and friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, June 15, and one hour prior to the funeral service at noon Friday, June 16, all at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Pastor Glen Hall of Harvest Community Church, Pierceton, will officiate.
