The Rev. Richard L. McGlynn, 73, Warsaw, passed away peacefully after an extended illness at 8:52 a.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017, in his residence. 

He was born Feb. 6, 1944, in Hartford City, to the Rev. Vincent and Emily S. Pierson McGlynn.

He was a wonderful father, husband, son, brother and grandfather who everyone knew they could call upon anytime day or night, especially for prayer.

He has been a Warsaw resident since 1966.  

He married Marcia Goodman in 1966 and then he married Geneva Ousley on July 4, 2012, in Warsaw.

He retired from Biomet in 2000 as a machinist. He was a member of Victory Rock Church, Pierceton. He has been a minister for 50 years, mainly a minister of music. He was a commissioner of The Babe Ruth Baseball League for Madison Grant High School and Marion County. 

He is survived by his wife, Geneva McGlynn, Warsaw; his children: Richard Dee McGlynn, Florida; Betsy McGlynn, Warsaw; and Richard McGlynn II, Pamela Manuel and Matthew (Jessica) Manuel, Warsaw; five grandchildren: Timothy L. Tackett, Warsaw; Ashton (Kerry) Tackett, Warsaw; Stone McGlynn, Edwardsburg, Mich,; Sandra Hall, Claypool; and Danielle Manuel Ousley, Warsaw; three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Vera (George) Webb, Indianapolis, and Nicoletta (Ron) Deck, Warsaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David McGlynn; and three sisters, Marjorie Havens, Louis “Sandy” Wymer and Gloria Ann McGlynn.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Victory Rock Church, Warsaw.

A celebration service of Richard’s life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at Victory Rock Church, Warsaw. The Rev. Charles Trout will officiate. Interment will be in Mentone Cemetery at a later date.

Services are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
