By Staff Report-

The 26 entries have been pared down to 10 finalists in Kosciusko County’s Taco Wars, according to Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau, which is overseeing the event.

A total of 187 nominations were received. The top 10 will square off against one another in a voting contest to decide who has the best taco in the county.

The voting is underway now at VisitKosciuskoCounty.org. Voters are encouraged to vote once a day for their favorite until the county competition phase ends on July 31.

Everyone who votes will be entered in a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to the winning restaurant at the end of the county-level competition.

It was earlier stated the drawing would be for $25, but due to the popularity of local Taco Wars, the CVB has increased the gift certificate amount. Notification will be by email, according to the press release.

The winner of the Kosciusko County 2017 Taco Wars will be announced on July 31 and will then move on to the regional level, to go head-to-head against the winning restaurants from the other six counties that make up Indiana’s “Cool North.”

Other counties include Marshall, Lagrange, Elkhart, St. Joe, Porter and LaPorte. Regional competition will begin Aug. 4.

The Indiana’s Cool North Taco Wars is a follow-up from previous competitions such as Burger Wars and Pizza Wars contests, which attracted 200,000 votes in previous years.

“I was thrilled at the number of dining establishments nominated. Kosciusko County is known for delicious dining options and Taco Wars is yet another way to showcase our area and give visitors an interesting way to engage and participate along with county residents,” said Jill Boggs,   executive director of the Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“I have already planned my taco stops in the next two weeks to personally experience the top 10. That is the fun in it all.”

The 10 participants that will be representing the Best of Kosciusko County are:

Taqueria El Comal, Warsaw

Taco Jalisco Food Truck, Warsaw

Mi Lindo Acapulco Mexican Restaurant, Warsaw

Patino's Mexican Food, North Webster

El Arriero Mexican Bar & Grill, Warsaw

Cardoso Café, Warsaw

El Cielo Mexican Grill & Bar, Warsaw
