She was born April 7, 1936, in Valparaiso, to Ocie Esther Clark and Arthur Holmgren. On Nov. 28, 1959, she was married to E. Jack Meier, who survives in Winona Lake.
Faye was a 1955 graduate of LaCrosse High School, LaCrosse. She attended Purdue University in West Lafayette and received her bachelor’s degree in interior decorating in 1959 and her master’s degree in education in 1961. Faye was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 27 years. She will be dearly missed and forever loved by her friends and family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years, E. Jack Meier, Winona Lake; and three brothers: John Holmgren, LaCrosse; Ray Holmgren, Portland, Ore.; and Dennis Holmgren, Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Faye's journey with Jack started at a snow-covered outing at Purdue University. By their senior year, marriage was being discussed. Graduation was completed in June 1959 and marriage was performed on Nov. 28, 1959, in LaPorte. Jack had a military assignment in early 1960 and Faye was asked and taught elementary education in her home town of LaCrosse. Upon Jack's return, they relocated to Crawfordsville, where Faye worked as an interior decorator and then completed her advanced education degree and taught in the Crawfordsville school system.
In 1970, they moved to Lancaster, Pa., where they lived the next 10 years. Jack continued to be employed
Faye and Jack relocated to Fishers in 2000, then decided to build a home in Winona Lake in 2005. They resided there until Faye joined Grace Village Long Term Care in November 2010 until her passing.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. There will also be time for visiting prior to the service on Wednesday, July 19, from 10 to 11 a.m.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Chaplain Bryan Benjamin and the Rev. Richard Anderson. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
