Toran L. Savant, 32, of 888 S. Oak Brook Place, was arrested Tuesday after a domestic battery incident.
On Tuesday, a witness told police Savant was drunk and agitated and told her to leave because he was going to burn the house down, according to court records.
The witness told police that as she went to leave, she heard a woman scream from the back bedroom. She went into the bedroom and saw Savant on top of the woman, choking her, court records state.
The witness called the police. A Warsaw police officer spoke with the woman who said Savant was “drunk and started going crazy.”
She said she was lying face down on the bed when Savant placed her in a chokehold from behind.
The woman told police that she rolled over and Savant started the choking her again. Savant finally let go and left.
Savant was arrested Tuesday and released without bond Thursday.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office filed a warrant requesting a bond in the case. Savant was rearrested Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Savant was placed on a $20,750 bond, and has since bonded out.
