A Warsaw man faces charges after police say he dressed as a woman and bilked his mother for money.
Jonathan Cary Davis, 61, of 1 EMS B48A Lane, is facing charges of exploitation of an endangered adult, identity deception, forgery and application fraud, all level 6 felonies.
Police allege that on Dec. 12, Davis went into a bank dressed as a woman with an Indiana identification card with the his mother’s name on it. The ID card also contained a photo of Davis dressed as a woman, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
Davis handed the bank teller a letter saying that he had surgery and could not speak. He then opened an account in the victim’s name. He deposited a check for $18,460.20 written out to the victim, the affidavit states.
On Dec. 13, he cashed a check from the account for $200.
North Webster police tracked down the victim’s brother, who told police Davis has no authority to do financial business on behalf of the victim, the affidavit charges.
The police spoke with Davis, who admitted he went to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles dressed as a woman to obtain an identification card in the victim’s name.
He previously was charged with taking money from the same victim. That case is still pending.
Davis was arrested Thursday. He is currently held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,250 bond.
